Yoshu Brown was born in Norfolk, Virginia, in 1983. From a young age, she has had a fascination with drawing. Her earliest creations included sketches of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, inspired by the shows she watched as a child in the 1980s. In the 1990s, her mother, Yoshu M. Brown introduced her to comic books like "Amazing Spider-Man," which further fueled her passion.

The Saturday morning cartoon lineup of the '90s significantly shaped Yoshu’s imagination. Shows like "Batman," "X-Men," and "Spider-Man" helped her develop an appreciation for characters with more realistic proportions. Her father, Terry Lee Carter, also played a role in her artistic journey, encouraging her as he drew unusual characters of his own.

In elementary school, Yoshu received praise for her artwork, with teachers recognizing her talent and encouraging her to pursue drawing.

In 2008, Yoshu continued her education at Tidewater Community College (TCC), where she won awards in various art shows and earned an Associate Degree in Applied Art. She then transferred to Old Dominion University, where she won first place in a Women’s Art Show. However, she left Old Dominion in 2016 due to the sudden death of a family member that impacted her studies. After reapplying in 2018, she faced another setback with the passing of her father in February of that year.

Despite these challenges, Yoshu was determined to complete her art education. She reapplied in 2021 and graduated in 2023 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts and Graphic Design. Now residing in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Yoshu continues to pursue her passion for art, creating various series and returning to her love of comics by working on her first comic book, "Batwoman."
